Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was always a favorite holiday for my family, like most. I had the honor of decorating and setting the table from around the age of eight. Of course, I would help out in the kitchen a little bit, but not as much as some kids since I had the fortune of having my "Granny" live with us. So, between she and my Mom - we had two of the best cooks ever! I loved setting the table with my Mom's china, silver, beautiful serving pieces, the crystal and of course the linens! I still have her porcelain, a timeless Haviland pattern that I mix and match since it is white with a beautiful gold trim. However, the MOST precious holiday treat for me is seeing this old battered recipe - written in my Mom's own handwriting, which I have used year after year. You can see all of the spills and use this has gotten over the years, so it is good that we have this scanning technology to help preserve it for the next generation. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

  2. I know and unfortunately she had sent me so many back in the 80's and early 90's by fax! Who would have known at the time that they would fade over the years. They were all handwritten, but she loved new technologies and gadgets and thought it was fun to fax instead of mailing, for a while. I still can't throw them out because I can still see faint outlines. I still have enough of the real deals to make my heart sing!

  3. Hey There!
I looked at that, and it is a great recipe!
This was a great post. We, being professionals in the design/decor genre can share other things through blogging....Like some personal stuff like this, that is so NICE!
    I'm gonna cook this!!!

  4. Thanks Maryanne! All of my family was from the South and this was passed down for many generations! It's just not Thanksgiving without it! While I can enjoy other recipes for dressing (love oysters) it's just the flavor of the holiday and always will be, for me. It really is wonderful if you like cornbread dressing. We always had it with giblet gravy and mashed potatoes, etc. Let me know how it turns out for you! Just make sure the cornbread is NOT sweet, I don't think that would work. Enjoy...
